This post is a summary of the Devoxx Poland 2016 conference [1]. There is considered here the conference without the UnVoxxed OpenSpace. Devoxx is a Java related conference. It’s implied by the leading conference description – Explore the Java World.
Place
The conference took place in the ICE Krakow Congress Centre, between 22 and 24 of June 2016. This centre is an ideal place for such events. It’s big enough and well suited for conferences. However there was quite crowded in the centre during breaks between talks. In general, Kraków as a location is very attractive. The conference brought people not only from Europe. It was an opportunity to visit one of the oldest cities in Poland.
Content
The conference was on a very high level. It applies to location, logistic and content. The whole event went smoothly. My colleagues share this opinion. Even though the schedule included late hours we did not feel bored in the evening. The spectrum of topics was vast [2]. Java, JVM, microservices and architecture were the most common topics. There were five parallel tracks. We found very technical-coding sessions and high level-conceptual as well. In addition to the technical talks there were also presentations on soft skills. All of these kind of skills are required in the industry and it’s appreciated to have sessions addressing them. Most of the speakers were well prepared. Some of them were focused on content whereas others on both content and show. Only in some cases subjects did not match the actual presentation content. Subject should reveal the speaker’s intention.
Price
The price of the ticket was about 1000zl, depending on the time in which it was ordered. In comparison to other conferences it’s fully acceptable amount. There were lunch and coffee with cookies every day. On Wednesday there was also an after party with beer. We could also use Devoxx mobile app navigating the conference.

Summary
I strongly recommend this conference. It provides three days of a great atmosphere around Java. The primal purpose of conferences is inspiring. Devoxx does it well.
